The theme of UNDERCOVER's 2015-16 Fall/Winter collection is "hurt." It's a delightfully dark look, typical of designer Jun Takahashi.
This season, invitations were sent featuring slashed designs. Knitwear features slashed panels, and tailored jackets, blouses, trousers, and coats feature random, crack-like darts. Pants also feature slashed panels and are made of different fabrics, such as satin and chiffon. A lab coat-like coat features an embroidered knife design on the chest.
The highlight of the collection is the long skirts and dresses, all printed with the work of Michael Borremans. Borremans's pained aesthetic is perfectly suited to this season's collection. Come to think of it, the models' faces were covered with transparent masks, giving them the texture of Borremans' paintings.
The scratches on the tortoiseshell-like PVC jackets, the edges of which had been melted by heat, left a vivid impression. The show ended with a succession of cracked black and white evening wear, followed by suits and coats with shards sewn into them, creating a painful-to-see conclusion.
