Mame Kurogouchi designer Maiko Kurogouchi has been appointed as the designer of the staff uniforms for the Nagano Prefectural Shinano Art Museum's Main Building and Higashiyama Kaii Museum, which are due to open in spring 2021.

Born in Nagano Prefecture, she founded the Kurogouchi Design Office in 2010 and launched her own brand, "Mame Kurogouchi."
This time, Kurogouchi, who is also a native of the prefecture, will be designing the uniforms for the staff of both museums.

The main building opened in 1966 in a park adjacent to Zenkoji Temple, a national treasure in Nagano City. In conjunction with the complete renovation, it will be reborn as a new building based on the concept of a "landscape museum." The design was created by Plant Associates.

Reopened in October 2019, earlier than the main building
The adjacent Higashiyama Kaii Museum, designed by Taniguchi Yoshio and donated by Higashiyama Kaii, opened in 1990. This museum reopened in October 2019, earlier than the main building.

The uniforms shared by both museum staff are scheduled to be unveiled in January 2021. I'm already looking forward to it.
