MI Food Style Co., Ltd., a group company of Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings Ltd. which operates 16 supermarkets (Queens Isetan) mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area, has launched a new ready-to-eat food brand, "Shinjuku Nikko Dai Shokudo no Aji," with three types of pasta sauce to be sold at Queens Isetan as its first release.
MI Food Style's predecessor, Nikko, started out as a cafeteria kitchen operation and has since expanded into retail store management and the manufacturing of a variety of food products, with the slogans "Niko for seafood, mountain produce and groceries" and "Anything delicious is Nikko."
"Shinjuku Niko" opened in December 1927 at the east exit of Shinjuku Station (now Shinjuku Alta) as a store specializing in daily necessities. Even during the difficult times of wartime raw material shortages, we continued to operate to help rebuild people's lives and stabilize prices, earning the support of many customers.
During the post-war period of high economic growth, the store was beloved nationwide as a "food specialty store," and its restaurant on the second floor in particular was popular as a symbol of prosperity. Now, in the new Reiwa era, we are launching a new food brand, "Shinjuku Niko Dai Shokudo no Aji," with the aim of bringing joy to many people through "food," and incorporating the aspirations of our predecessors who overcame hardships.
The first products to be released under the new brand, "Shinjuku Niko Dai Shokudo no Aji," will be three new types of pasta sauce.
"Bolognese" is a minced meat sauce that is popular with people of all ages, "Bacon Cream" is a gentle-tasting cream sauce infused with the flavor of bacon, and "Pomodoro" is a tomato sauce with just the right amount of acidity that leaves you wanting more. All of these products are affordable and have been created through repeated trial and error to satisfy many customers.
