MAGASEEK Corporation (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has introduced Japan's first virtual fitting solution, "Virtusize," on its comprehensive fashion online shopping site, MAGASEEK. Virtual Size displays 2D images of clothing users are considering purchasing against their pre-registered clothing and previous site purchases, overlaying them for size comparison. The system was developed to address concerns about sizing, a common hurdle when purchasing clothes online, and to reduce returns due to mismatched sizes. The service is provided by Virtusize, a company founded by Swedish entrepreneurs in 2011. It is already being used by 25 online retailers in Europe and Asia, including ASOS.com, for approximately 40,000 products, and has been proven to reduce returns due to mismatched sizes.
Eric Ekstrand, a founding member of the company and current CFO, commented, "We view Japan as an important market, and Japanese measurement standards have had a major influence on the development of our services. We hope to increase our presence in Japan in the future, and have already set up an office in Tokyo and hired our first employees. We hope to offer our virtual size try-on solution to more Japanese online retailers in the near future."
