My daughter, Sara Marie, has been a real go-getter since she was 14. She loves fun and has a strong desire to succeed and be recognized. I think she's probably similar to me in that way.
But sometimes those traits can make her feel lonely. Just last weekend, we had an event in Hayama, and Sara's fellow model and best friend pointed this out to me.
When Sara introduced me to Kaito (the first boyfriend she'd ever introduced to me), I immediately knew he was the man who had captured her heart. And when they said they wanted to get married... my initial reaction was, "Why are they rushing? It's just a piece of paper!"
But then I thought about it again and realized I'd been overthinking it. True love means truly loving someone and sharing your life. It's about cherishing and influencing each other. In other words, it's about feeling.
Yesterday, as I was watching them at dinner, I realized something. It just means they love each other and truly enjoy spending time together. Isn't that enough?
Soon they'll be husband and wife. Or maybe husband and wife. I'm sure both are correct.
When Sarah was little, I often took her to swim in the river in the former Asuke town of Aichi Prefecture. She loved splashing water at each other, throwing stones, and chasing fish in the water, where the clouds were reflected in the water.
She was also engrossed in the music I played, and would dance so much I thought she might be going crazy...it was so much fun. So, not much has changed since then.
I hope Sarah and Kaito will love each other forever and spend many happy times together. And I hope that one day they can complete their lives together. A life where they truly trust and support each other, and can truly say they are one.
To Sarah and Kaito.
One Love.
