Susan Cianciolo holds her first solo exhibition in Kyushu, and an installation show in Tokyo

Aug 13, 2013

American designer Susan Cianciolo's solo exhibition "Objects and Shapes: Beautiful Things" will be held at the Mitsubishi Estate Artium gallery in Fukuoka from August 30th until September 23rd.

The exhibition will feature new drawings created in Fukuoka, a selection of previous drawings, handmade textiles such as embroidery, patchwork, and hand-dyed textiles, an installation using boxes, and a new video work. Related products will be sold at the attached shop, "Art&Omnibus." Cianciolo will be in person on the 30th, and an opening reception will be held from 6:30 PM.

In addition, related products will be sold at the select shop Lamp Harajuku (4-28-15 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) in Harajuku, Tokyo, and an installation-style show will be held from 6:00 PM on the 26th. Born in the United States in 1969, Cianciolo studied fashion and textiles at Parsons School of Design and Winchester College of Art and Design. From 1994 she worked as production manager for X-Girl and as an assistant designer for luxury dress brand Badgley Mischka. Her own RUN collection, launched in 1995 and discontinued in 2001, each time introduced a specific craft technique or handwork, which was highly praised. She is active in many areas, including collaborations with American denim manufacturer Cone Denim, books, and films. She currently teaches at an art school in New York while also presenting solo exhibitions and collections.
