Istanbul-based artist Emre Huner will be holding his first solo exhibition in Japan. As part of the Mori Art Museum's "MAM Project," which supports young artists from around the world, the exhibition will run concurrently with "Out of Doubt" (Roppongi Crossing 2013). The exhibition will run from September 21 to January 13, 2014. Huner's work explores the fragility of civilized society and the future that lies ahead. This exhibition will feature installations including "Juggernaut" (2009) and new works. "Juggernaut" is a video that explores how human wisdom, such as the advances in science and technology that have accompanied the development of civilization, have ironically led to war. Huner was born in 1977 and studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Italy and the Rijksakademie Residence in the Netherlands. He currently lives and works in his hometown of Istanbul. Representative works include "Panopticon" (2005) and "Quizotic" (2011). He has held exhibitions all over the world, and last year he held a solo exhibition in the United States and a group exhibition in Belgium. This year he will also hold a solo exhibition in his home country.
An artist talk will also be held from 2pm on the first day of the exhibition. Capacity: 80 people (reservation required), free of charge. Applications will be accepted from 11am on August 14th on the Mori Art Museum website on a first-come, first-served basis.
