MEN'S WINTER 24 SHOW
BY ANTHONY VACCARELLO

Saint Laurent's Winter 2024 Men's Collection builds on elements from the previous season, shifting its tone and content.

The first look featured a classic double-breasted suit, evocative of the power silhouette of the 1980s. As the show progressed, the formal silhouette softened, and a couture jacket in crepe georgette lined with satin evoked not so much strength as the latest women's winter collection. As with the women's collection, the color palette of pale nudes, greens, and violets brightened to dusty hues for the finale, an indirect reflection of the sartorial evolution of the house's founder, who possessed a rare sensitivity for color.

Throughout the collection, tailoring is fluid, and the clothes exude movement and lightness. Reinterpreting archive pieces from the 1960s, the combination of a black leather hat and a structured rubber peacoat is given a contemporary feel when paired with loose trousers.

This season's show was presented in the same venue as the Winter '23 men's collection, the Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection, a contemporary art museum housed in the former stock exchange. The venue, with its concrete columns and black carpet, was adorned with a monumental arch filled with dark flowers such as calla lilies, anemones, and orchids, reminiscent of Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent's historic shows.
