The Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2015 (SSFF&ASIA), Asia's largest international short film festival and recognized by the Academy Awards, kicks off on June 4th. Through the 14th, the festival will screen works selected from approximately 5,000 short films submitted from over 100 countries and regions. Highlights of this 17th edition include Xavier Dolan and the Fashion Shorts Program. The "Quebec Special" section, featuring Canada, where French is an official language, features films by directors with ties to the region and films shot in Quebec. Xavier Dolan, who was selected as a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival and whose film "Mommy" is currently showing, also appeared in his younger days in the short film "Mirror." It's exciting to see how this film genius performs on screen. Also, be sure to check out the "Fashion Shorts Program," which has been gaining attention at SSFF&ASIA since last year. You can enjoy the beautiful world of fashion woven through short films shot in various countries, including France, Italy, the UK, Germany, the US, Spain, South Africa, and China.
Also joining the SSFF&ASIA venue this year is the Andaz Tokyo, a hotel celebrating its first anniversary on June 11th. From the 8th to the 11th, the hotel will host the "Andaz Cinema Salon" on its 51st floor. Focusing on the hotel's concepts of "personal style" and "regional individuality," the salon will screen short films themed around "personality" and "Tokyo." This suggests a way for adults to spend their time in the city, enjoying a movie after a meal at the hotel.
This year, for the first time, a kids' program for parents and children will be launched, offering an even wider range of film experiences. Why not immerse yourself in a different world, illuminated by the light of film amid the darkness?
