Takada Aged Rice Shochu from Kumamoto's Takada Brewery
5,500 yen. Online shipping is 330 yen nationwide.
A new type of rice shochu, aged in liquor barrels. A new type of Japanese distilled spirit has been born from Takada Brewery, a master of Kuma shochu in Kuma District, Kumamoto Prefecture. In 2017, they began brewing plain Kuma shochu using Hinohikari rice from Hitoyoshi Kuma with cherry blossom yeast. This shochu, crafted with a distinctively Japanese flavor and cherry blossom aroma, is further aged in cognac barrels. The barrels bring out the aroma of Western liquor, while the mouthfeel is clear and clear, typical of rice shochu. The finish is rich with the lingering aroma of cognac, creating a uniquely different experience from traditional rice shochu. With a robust 41% alcohol content, it can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, including straight, on the rocks, or as a highball. Why not take this opportunity to experience this innovative shochu, brought to the world from Japan?
