teamLab will be unveiling a new piece of art using the world's first "pond surface projection" at the "Lights of Takeo, Saga - Lights of Takeo Illuminating the Future" exhibition, which will be held in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture from July 17th to August 31st.
"Lights of Takeo, Saga - Lights of Takeo Illuminating the Future" is an event held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Takeo Onsen Tower Gate. As part of this event, teamLab will be unveiling their new work, "Drawings on the Water Surface Created by Carp Dancing with Boats - Mifuneyama Rakuen Pond," at the "Summer Bamboo Lights" event at Mifuneyama Rakuen, a large garden that is also a nationally registered scenic spot. "People Dancing in the Library" will also be exhibited at Takeo City Library.
"Drawing on the Water Surface by Carp Dancing with Boats - Mifuneyama Rakuen Pond" is an art piece created by illuminated trees and Mt. Mifuneyama, small boats, and carp of light swimming on the water's surface.
A world first, a large number of colorful carp are projected onto the surface of a pond, and they interact with the small boats floating on the pond. The carp gather around the boats when they float quietly, and move away when they start to move. Each carp also swims autonomously, swimming in its own trajectory while being influenced by the behavior of the other carp.
"Library Dancers" also involves hijacking the displays installed in the library, and projecting humorous characters onto displays installed throughout the building. The characters perform charming dances, each of which moves as if it has a will of its own.
