Disneyland California's "Diamond Celebration" captivates guests with the world's best night show

Jun 21, 2015

Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, USA, which opened as the world's first Disneyland in 1955, is holding a special anniversary event, "Diamond Celebration," to celebrate its 60th anniversary. The highlight of the event is three new night shows that allow guests to experience the world of founder Walt Disney's imagination.

Paint the Night Parade, a state-of-the-art electrical parade featuring more than 1.5 million sparkling LED lights, takes place on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland Park. Tinker Bell, riding a star-like float, sprinkles pixie dust to signal the start of the show, and familiar characters from Disney animations such as "Monsters, Inc.," "Cars," "The Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Toy Story" appear one after another. Then, Anna, Elsa, and Olaf from "Frozen," a huge hit in Japan, appear on an ice float recreating the world of the film, illuminating the night city with light art. The characters' costumes are equipped with state-of-the-art lighting systems, allowing guests to enjoy up-close light effects just like in a scene from the film. At the end, Mickey Mouse appears wearing his magic hat, bringing the dynamic light show to a thrilling close. "Disneyland Forever," an entertainment show that combines projection mapping and fireworks, is set throughout the park, including Main Street U.S.A., "It's a Small World," and "Matterhorn Bobsleds." Guests can experience different views from multiple viewpoints. Images from seven stories, including "Peter Pan," "The Lion King," and "The Little Mermaid," are projected onto the exterior walls of buildings, and spectacular fireworks and moving music transport guests to a romantic nighttime world. Featuring two original songs, "Live the Magic" and "Kiss Goodnight," composed by Disney's legendary composer Richard Sherman, this spectacular show is sure to take your breath away on an unprecedented scale.

In the lagoon at Disney California Adventure Park, "World of Color: Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney" is a 60th-anniversary version of the popular water show "World of Color," where dynamic images project from one of the world's largest water screens. Hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris, who also hosts the Academy Awards and Emmy Awards, and Mickey Mouse, the show takes you on a journey through Walt Disney's dream world, featuring spectacular fountains that shoot up to 50 meters in the air and Disney classics projected onto the water with special video technology. This year's "World of Color" features a high-resolution video playback system that is approximately four times the resolution of the previous visual projection system. The powerful, clear images and music deliver an inspiring message to guests: "If you don't give up, your dreams will come true."

The "Diamond Celebration" celebrates the 60th anniversary not only through the night show, but also throughout the resort. Each park's iconic "Sleeping Beauty Castle" and "Carthay Circle Theater" are adorned with sparkling diamond-studded decorations, and Mickey Mouse and his friends welcome guests in special diamond and blue costumes. In addition, limited-edition merchandise and food are also available, creating a grand atmosphere at the "Happiest Place on Earth."

Also, Disneyland California Resort is currently running a "60th Anniversary Campaign!" To celebrate the 60th anniversary, limited-edition original merchandise will be given to guests who visit Disneyland California Resort on eligible travel packages and turn 60, or whose combined ages reach 60. There are many combinations, such as a trip for a couple both in their 30s, a girls' trip for three 20-year-olds, or a trip for a father and daughter (aged 45 and 15). Check the website for details.

California's Disneyland Resort continues to create new entertainment with innovative technology. Don't miss the special events that are only available in the anniversary year.
