Swiss watch brand Ikepod releases its first limited edition model since its revival in the new Megapod collection

Jun 12, 2020
The highly anticipated Megapod, featuring a mechanical movement, will be released on July 1, 2020. Already sold out on the official website, the first limited edition model since the revival, "Zaha," will arrive in Japan.

This brick-colored dial differs from previous models, which feature a base of white, black, and gray with the brand's orange accents on the hands and indices. The refined color with reduced red complements basic colors like navy, black, and gray, and the simple white and silver accents make it perfect for everyday wear.

Of the rare limited edition of 50 pieces worldwide, 10 have been secured for Japan, and they will be sold exclusively at the select watch shop TiCTAC from June 12.

[IKEPOD Brand Overview]

Ikepod was born from a fateful meeting between Oliver Ike and Marc Newson in 1994. The brand name is a combination of "POD," the name of a signature piece by Marc Newson, who would later become the designer of the Apple Watch, and Oliver Ike's surname. Introduced in the mid-1990s, Marc Newson's bold design, which overturned conventional wisdom about wristwatches at the time, was well-received for its streamlined design and meticulous comfort, as well as its authentic Swiss-made automatic movement. It quickly became a global phenomenon, adorning the wrists of watch enthusiasts, artists, designers, and Silicon Valley stars alike. However, much to everyone's regret, the brand went dormant in 2013.

Then, in 2017, current owners Guillaume Gout and Christian-Louis Col acquired the brand, and in 2018, it once again captured the watch industry's attention with a crowdfunding campaign. This iconic timepiece, which combined design and watchmaking, was a success, raising 400,000 Swiss francs in just 88 minutes and receiving orders from 700 backers worldwide. In 2019, the new collection, unveiled at the Basel Fair, was launched globally in August, marking its return.
