Taiwan Fair held at Daikanyama Tsutaya in collaboration with the creative group behind lifestyle magazine "M.Mag"

Jun 25, 2015

Daikanyama T-Site will be holding a Taiwanese fair called "KIZUNA - The Sensibility and True Nature of Taiwan" in collaboration with MPX co,.Ltd, the Taiwanese creative group behind the publication of the Taiwanese lifestyle magazine M.Mag, from June 27th to July 19th at all branches of the bookstore.

The fair, themed "KIZUNA," will feature various collaborations with six "Lifemakers" representing Taiwanese culture as curators: chef André Chiang, musician Jonanthan Lee, film director Mar Jiexiang, design office Cizoo & Co., stationery store Tools to Liveby, and essayist Aoki Yuka.

Andre Chiang is the chef behind the French restaurant Restaurant Andre, which was selected by The New York Times as one of the "10 Restaurants in the World Worth Flying To Just To Get To." When he opened RAW in Taipei in 2014, it quickly became a hot topic as a restaurant that was difficult to get reservations for. The exhibition will include a talk event titled "M.MAG x Andre Chiang: A New Experience with the Taste of Taiwan," as well as an exhibition of handmade soaps made by Taiwan's indigenous people using five types of food: tea, rice, and soy sauce. Other events include a talk event featuring Jonathan Lee, a charismatic figure in the Chinese music industry who has built Taiwan's music market for over 30 years, and Ma Jixian, the film director behind the Taiwanese hit film "KANO 1931: The Baseball Stadium Beyond the Sea," which also stars Japanese actors Masatoshi Nagase and Takao Osawa. "Cizoo & Co." will exhibit Taiwanese folk crafts and designer accessories, while "Tools to Liveby" will showcase Taiwanese-made stationery. Additionally, essayist Yuka Aoki, who has lived in Taiwan for 13 years, will host an event called "Yuka Aoki x Daido Electric Rice Cooker Easy Cooking Class," where participants will make pudding using the multi-purpose rice cooker, the Daido Electric Rice Cooker. Additionally, the gallery space on the first floor of Building 2 will feature an exhibition of photographs capturing the "current state of Taiwan" by seven photographers from Taiwan and Japan. Photographers participating include Ivy Chen, Cheng Hong-kyung, Yang Ya-chun, and Seki Ryuta.
