H&M is collaborating for the first time with Women + Waves, a surfing community for women of all ages and abilities who are passionate about surfing and ocean conservation. Founded in 2017 by Rachel Murphy and based in Cornwall, UK, Women + Waves is a community of women passionate about surfing and ocean conservation. This collaboration marks Women + Waves' first collaboration with a fashion brand.

The Women + Waves x H&M collection will be available on the official online store (hm.com) from June 4th (evening Japan time). It will also be rolled out in five select stores from June 8th: Shibuya, Shinjuku, Terrace Mall Shonan, Shinsaibashi, and AEON Mall Okinawa.

[About the collection]
Offering a wide range of modern bikinis, swimsuits, rash guards and wetsuits, Women + Waves x H&M is a highly functional and fashionable surfwear collection for both land and sea. With designs that subtly nod to the 1990s look and cuts, the pieces offer essential pieces for an active lifestyle.

The entire collection is made primarily from sustainably sourced materials, including recycled nylon, recycled polyester and organic cotton. The wetsuits are made from Yulex®, a natural rubber.

The collection pays homage to surfing as an active sport, and to the women who are united by surfing, with an overall strong, sophisticated silhouette. The collection also features hoodies, T-shirts, and accessories featuring the "Women + Waves" logo by Women + Waves member and illustrator Clara Jonas.

The attention to detail, from the zipper openings to the seams and secure straps, is evident, and the color palette of muted green, soft yellow, and black is cool and inspires confidence, creating a sense of unity like that of two surfing sisters.

"In our collaboration with H&M, we wanted each item to not only be practical, but also reflect the strength and spirit of the women who surf together. We started out by casually meeting once a week with the desire to create a space where women could be themselves and feel confident in their own surf community, but we have now grown into a real organisation that constantly supports each other. We hope that our collaboration with H&M will inspire women to take up surfing, and also raise awareness about keeping the ocean clean." (Rachel Murphy, Founder of Women + Waves)

"Women + When I first encountered Waves, I was blown away by the power of this all-female surfing organization and knew it was the real deal. They are unique, positive, and inspiring women. We are thrilled to be collaborating with them. From the start, we felt that it was important to have functional and fashionable swimwear at the core of the collection. Based on that, I think we have created a collection that can be enjoyed even in times like these. " (Maria Östblom, Head of Womenswear Design, H&M)
