Rethinking classics with a modern take on the "shirt"! [Paris Snap]

Oct 24, 2023
Paris Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2024 season took place from September 25th to October 3rd. In response to the continued trend of "quiet luxury," which focuses on details and creates understated, quietly luxurious styles, the outfits worn by guests at the shows were also leaning toward more realistic and minimalist styles.

Many designers are currently working on how to give existing items a new look. They are rethinking classics and attempting to radically redefine the essence of clothing. A prime example of this is the "dress shirt," which originated as menswear and is now popular as everyday wear for both men and women. This versatile item has a neat yet versatile look that can be styled to suit a wide range of situations, from casual to formal, and the key to achieving this is creating a relaxed feel.

1. Effortless shirt style

Actress Yuko Araki, who attended the Dior show, chose a black shirt. The wrinkled finish gives it a nonchalant look, and she created a perfect casual look by leaving the front buttons open to reveal her underwear. She embodied the elegant woman that is characteristic of Dior with a mid-length skirt featuring a map of Paris and Mary Jane shoes.

2. Mixing sweet and spicy colors

Influencer and businesswoman Irene Kim attended the event wearing a clean white shirt in a different color from Araki. The blurred floral print of the skirt and the checked pattern of the coat were topped off with the black of the bag, bra top, socks and shoes. The styling incorporated the trendy color red without being too sweet.

3. Mix in some street style

A shirt decorated with safety pins, paired with a silver skirt and pumps, subtly breaks down the classic shirt look for an edgy, modern style. The oversized silhouette, which seems to have been borrowed from a man's wardrobe, also has a street-inspired feel. Hair styling with layered pins also complements the fashion well.

4. Men's wear worn by women

Singapore-based influencer Yoyo Kao participated in a men's wear outfit consisting of a shirt, tie, and tailored jacket. The bottoms of the outfit were ultra-mini shorts, boldly exposing her delicate legs and exuding femininity.

Extra Edition

Shirts were seen in a variety of different ways at each venue, attracting attention as an item that expresses individuality, from wearing the shirt loose with the collar unbuttoned to layering a shirt dress with pants.
