Release Date:2020.06.01
May 30, 2020

IKEA, the Swedish home furnishing company with a vision of "creating a better everyday life for the many people," will be selling the limited edition collection "BOTANISK" from June 1st.

Don't have a garden or balcony but want to enjoy gardening, or want to make gardening easier? "BOTANISK," which means "of plants" in Swedish, offers items for enjoying gardening indoors, such as pot covers, hanging planters, gardening aprons and bags. Even if you can't grow plants, our textiles, such as cushion covers embroidered with plants using the natural material jude and rugs made from banana fiber and cotton, are not only beautiful to look at but also pleasant to touch, allowing you to enjoy a vibrant home that feels like you're surrounded by plants.

The BOTANISK collection is entirely handmade by skilled artisans. It also creates jobs in areas that need them and helps many women advance in the workforce. "This entire collection is made with people in mind. From start to finish, collaboration is key," says Maria O'Brian, Creative Lead at IKEA.

The BOTANISK collection was created in collaboration with six social entrepreneurs from India, Thailand, Jordan and Romania. All six had business ideas aimed at creating jobs in places and for people who need them. IKEA currently has 27 social entrepreneur partners in 15 countries around the world, and the number is growing every year. We work with them at a global and local level to design and produce the handmade collections. These partnerships have so far helped create decent jobs for more than 20,500 artisans and local farmers around the world.
