Neil Barrett's 2015-16 Autumn/Winter collection featured a solid lineup of minimalist designs with the brand's signature sharp cuts. Despite the relatively fine weather at Milan Men's Fashion Week, a sudden downpour hit. A runway tent with a skeleton ceiling was set up in the venue's courtyard, as if the weather had been planned in advance.
The collection featured a deceptive, faux look based on military pieces. Shetland, Aran, and Fair Isle knit patterns were bonded to sweatshirts and printed on knitwear, creating a smart look not only through layering and patterning but also through the use of advanced fabric hybrids. A coat with a khaki-to-black gradation at the chest, likewise, balanced the overall look with its high-quality materials. Pop art elements were also a key point, with shirts and jackets featuring appliqués of the American comic book speech bubble (KABOOM), often seen in Lichtenstein's work, as a graphic icon.
Throughout the collection, which featured chester coats in a variety of materials including flannel, leather and tweed, trench coats with waist panels and lightweight bomber jackets, the collection demonstrated a solid presence as menswear suitable for urban business settings. What was particularly striking about the Milan Men's collection was the large number of Japanese men's fashion magazine editors and department store buyers in attendance.
