Louis Vuitton presents "Deep Time," the Maison's fifth High Jewelry collection, designed by Francesca Amfitheatrof, Artistic Director of Watches and Fine Jewelry.


"Deep Time" is an epic collection that depicts the ultimate and profound journey from the birth of the Earth to the emergence of life. This new collection combines Louis Vuitton's unique and original design signature and the Maison's renowned High Jewelry savoir-faire with the geology and geological origins of jewelry and gemstones. Featuring over 170 unique pieces—95 in the first chapter—and lavishly adorned with a record number of precious stones, this is the Maison's largest high jewelry collection to date. "At Louis Vuitton, we have always been adventurers, traveling to surprising and unexpected places. Deep Time transports you deep into the past, to times and places that are far away and perhaps even difficult to comprehend. At the same time, these stones—treasures that transcend millennia—will lead you back to the origins of the Earth, on a journey to discover the history of the world and its mysterious geological heritage," says Francesca. Comprised of two acts, "Geology" and "Life," Deep Time tells its story through 16 themes. Thirteen of these themes are unveiled in this debut collection. Each theme features exquisite jewelry pieces that capture this epic tale of transformation, life, and interconnectedness. The first act, "Geology," charts our planet's remarkable evolution, beginning with Gondwana, one of two supercontinents believed to have formed early in Earth's history. Following the "Gondwana" collection, featuring exceptionally rare, oil-free Colombian emeralds, themes such as "Volcano," "Wave," and "Rupture" tell different creation stories, bringing their explosive power to life through the Maison's signature design language. The graphic and powerful Louis Vuitton "V" signature energizes each unique piece, while custom-cut LV stones unleash their innate power. The final chapter, "Drift," paves the way for the second act, "Life," with a stunning combination of aquamarine and yellow sapphire, representing the sun and the sea. The second act, "Life," begins with a prologue that hints at a complex and sophisticated universe. Life forces drive the creations, transforming the graphic into the organic, as a spectacular array of jewellery unfolds across the first eight themes. From "Origin" and "Fossils" to "Seeds" and "Flowers," each theme offers captivating combinations and contrasts of textures, layers and, of course, the most captivating gemstones. The jewellery also becomes increasingly free-form and versatile, with many pieces designed to be transformed and styled in multiple ways, a concrete expression of the "transformability" direction Francesca has been promoting for the past five years. "We had an incredible challenge to find the most beautiful stones. In Deep Time, every stone is connected to a theme, whether it's formed from lava, originating from different continents or symbolizing an idea. Deep Time is a celebration not only of the past, but also of the beauty of nature and the incredible fragility of life," says Francesca.
