Balenciaga will open a pop-up store on June 1, 2023, at Tokyu Plaza Ginza, a shopping complex in Tokyo's Ginza district that is designed with cut glass as its motif.

Integrated into the existing facade on the ground floor, the new store will offer men's and women's ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories, eyewear, and jewelry within the brand's experiential Raw Architecture design concept.

This Raw Architecture design concept respects existing structural elements and inherently consumes less virgin materials. It is conceived to question the very nature of authenticity through the use of provocative elements such as faux corrosion and deliberately finished rough edges. Concrete and metal surfaces are allowed to patina, leaving the interior in a provisional state.

For example, water-damaged curtains drape across the upper half of the store and are visible from behind the glass exterior, while aluminum tables are stained to resemble outdoor hardware. Polished, underlit shelving and hanging signage add a contemporary touch to the empty effect.

Starting June 1st, the limited-edition Balenciaga Duty Free bag will be available exclusively in this store, crafted from organic cotton canvas. It is medium in size and comes in a natural white colorway featuring the Balenciaga Tokyo logo. The 3XL Mule will be available pre-sale at the store opening, in a variety of colorways for men and women.
