Jamie xx, a member of The xx and producer, has announced the release of his first solo track since his 2015 solo debut album, In Colour, titled "Idontknow," via Young Turks.
In addition to his work as a member of The xx, Jamie xx is also known for producing for Drake, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, and others, and for remixing Radiohead, Adele, Florence + the Machine, and more.
Jamie xx's long-awaited latest single, "Idontknow," has been quietly unveiled on dance floors at clubs around the world since autumn 2019, and has already been a hot topic in the dance music scene, having been played in his own DJ sets. The intro continues with a primitive rhythm, followed by a break midway through, before the tempo picks up. The unique phrases using voice samples are memorable, and the track shows influences from Juke and Footwork.
The song is now available for digital download, and a 12-inch single will be released at a later date. A preview video has been released on YouTube.
