Shinichi Osawa's RHYME SO's new song "Fashion Blogger" has a gorgeous music video set on ice

Mar 13, 2020
RHYME SO, the new future pop duo formed by Shinichi Osawa (MONDO GROSSO), released their new song "Fashion Blogger" on March 13th.

The music video, released the same day, unfolds a gorgeous and epic story that satirizes the latest in the fashion industry and social media. The video is set at the IAFB Grand Prix 2020, a world figure skating competition, and features RHYME and world-renowned drag queen MILK competing in a stunning skating showdown on the ice. Anastasia Galstyan, a skater representing Armenia, performs a skating show in the opening credits. Gaku Sano, from "Kamen Rider Gaim," also makes an appearance. Shinichi Osawa himself appears as a strong character in the role of coach (?).

RHYME, an Australian born and raised in Australia, aspired to be a professional figure skater as a teenager, but at age 18 transitioned to modeling and musicianship. He is active globally as a poet, songwriter, DJ, and model, and currently has approximately 20,000 followers on Instagram. MILK, a long-time US ice dance competitor, has 884,000 followers and is known worldwide for her work with designers such as Marc Jacobs. The music video, which pays homage to the sports they both love, is available with subtitles in eight languages and features a funky bassline that livens up the scene, making it a happy party tune.

RHYME SO's debut album, "Just Used Music Again," was included on the label compilation album "Head in the Clouds II," supervised by 88rising's Joji, and garnered a lot of attention last year. In 2017, their first album in 14 years, released under the name MONDO GROSSO, reached number one on the iTunes album chart, and the music video for "Labyrinth," sung by Hikari Mitsushima, has been viewed more than 22 million times.

Incidentally, the World Figure Skating Championships, which were scheduled to be held in Canada from March 18, have been canceled by the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the spread of COVID-19.
