Ferragamo introduces new iconic shoe, "VIVA"

Feb 17, 2020
Salvatore Ferragamo will release its new shoe collection, "VIVA," on February 17th.

Designed by creative director Paul Andrew, the new shoe collection, "VIVA," is a reinterpretation of the classic "VARA" shoe, created by Fiamma Ferragamo in 1979. It offers a bold and modern update of the house's iconic Vara ribbon.

The ribbon is made from the same material as the shoe itself, such as leather, denim, or linen canvas, and is larger than the original grosgrain ribbon. The sculptural block shape of the heel is said to have been inspired by Richard Serra, one of Paul Andrew's favorite artists.

The current release will feature a lineup of classic and ruffled uppers, with mid (5.5cm) or low (2cm) heel heights. A wider variety of variations, including printed types, are planned for the future.
