MaxMara's Pre-Fall 2015 collection, presented in New York, was inspired by contemporary art.

MaxMara sponsored the opening party for the Whitney Museum of American Art, which will relocate and reopen in New York's downtown Meatpacking District on May 1, 2015.

The architect behind the museum's reconstruction was Renzo Piano. Renzo embodied the contemporary artist Robert Smithson's idea that "cities gradually return to a natural state," and designed a tower with five angular air conditioning plants protruding from it, as if formed by being pushed out by the surrounding buildings and spaces. The new museum also portends a rewilding as a monument over time.

Based on Renzo's creative philosophy for the reconstruction, the theme of this season's collection was "Where the Wild Things Were." The show retraces the era's memories with works by artists who have shared a history with the Whitney Museum of American Art. The redingote, double-faced, double-breasted blazer, and bias-cut ankle-length skirt were crafted from black wool crepe, inspired by the building's tiered, blocky exterior. Animal motifs, including bobcats, barn owls, and mud turtles, lend a wild essence and are expressed in prints and embossed cashmere jacquard and technosilk. They appear on the outer surface of leather skirts and on the insides of trench coats and cropped bomber jackets. The all-red outfits that appeared in the second half of the show evoked the crimson-clad dancers in Trisha Brown's 1960s dance piece "Roof Piece," further emphasizing the theme.
