21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, located in Roppongi, Tokyo, This exhibition at SIGHT will showcase the numerous sketches, drawings, and models created by Kengo Kuma, Taku Satoh, and others during the design process. It is these "hidden parts" that hold the important essence of design. This is the third installment in a series of cross-genre thematic exhibitions organized by the Mori Art Museum, combining contemporary art with historical and scientific materials. Through cutting-edge technologies such as AI, biotechnology, and AR (augmented reality) and the art, design, and architecture that have been influenced by them, the exhibition will explore topics ranging from near-future cities and environmental issues to lifestyles, society, and the state of humanity. Works on display include a reproduction of Van Gogh's ear, which he cut off while he was alive, using cellular DNA donated by the descendants of his paternal and maternal lines. Choi Jeong-hwa is an artist and designer whose work spans a variety of fields, including visual art and graphic design. In the past, she decorated Seoul's Olympic Stadium with garlands made from two million pieces of trash, transforming the building's surface into a sparkling jewel. Don't miss this solo exhibition by an iconic icon of contemporary Korean art in the 1990s and one of the most influential artists of the 2000s and beyond. The "Hakone Night Museum," an illumination event by Kyota Takahashi that makes use of the outdoor exhibition space and outdoor sculptures, is now in its third year. Free rental lanterns change color in response to the colors of the illuminated sculptures and scenery, and the movements of participants holding lanterns themselves create a fantastical night view, creating a magical space.
