"OSAKA x MILANO DESIGN LINK," a collaboration with the world's largest design event, "Milano Fuorisalone," has been held in the Shinsaibashi area, primarily around the main building of the Daimaru Shinsaibashi store, since October 12th.

"Milano Fuorisalone" is a collection of exhibitions, events, and installations held throughout Milan during Milan Design Week, held every April. Together with the world's largest furniture trade fair, "Milano Salone," it is one of the world's largest design festivals, attracting over one million visitors from around the world. The Daimaru Shinsaibashi store, where the event will be held, will have its grand opening on September 20th, marking the first reconstruction of its main building in 86 years. This time, the store will collaborate with Milano Fuorisalone, held in Milan, Osaka's sister city, to host the "OSAKA x MILANO DESIGN LINK." The Daimaru Shinsaibashi store's main building will serve as a launching point for bringing global design to the city of Osaka, creating a new buzz. The event will primarily be held in the Daimaru Shinsaibashi store's main building and surrounding area. Inside the main building, an information space will be set up where visitors can find information about the various works on display in the Shinsaibashi area. Four new pieces created by Italian designers specifically for this event will be displayed in four show windows. Additionally, a special exhibition of selected works that received acclaim at Fuorisalone, held in Milan, Italy in April of this year, will be held on six floors (2nd through 5th, 7th, and 9th).

The exhibition will include all nine pieces from the Fuorisalone 2019 Best Selection exhibition, four new works by overseas designers, and all seven works participating in ART STREAM, an open exhibition of emerging artists from the Kansai region.

The Fuorisalone 2019 Triumphant Exhibition of Works by Japanese Companies will see works from Japanese brands unveiled at Fuorisalone return to Osaka. On the 5th floor of the main building of Daimaru Shinsaibashi, there will be a special exhibition of "mt," the Japanese masking tape that has gained popularity worldwide. At the opening ceremony, Yoshiharu Nishizaka, store manager of Daimaru Osaka Shinsaibashi and chairman of the executive committee, commented, "We want to invigorate Osaka by focusing on design, which has the power to connect and evolve various things, such as the people, things, events, present and future, that gather in the city. We hope to develop it into content that can be shared with the world and be proud of together with the city." Additionally, Christian Confalonieri of Studio Labo, which partnered with the event, said, "I believe Milan is a city that grows thanks to design. I hope that Osaka will also be supported by design, and that the entire city will become more vibrant in the future."
