"MEDIA AMBITION TOKYO 2015," a gathering of cutting-edge technology culture, will be held from February 11th to 15th.
This third annual exhibition features a variety of art and video works incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as AR and 3D printing. In addition to last year's Roppongi and Aoyama locations, the exhibition will also be held in Odaiba, Iidabashi, and Shibuya. Of particular note are the works of digital artists such as Rhizomatiks and teamLab.
Rhizomatiks will exhibit "1,220," a visual and sound installation using the Lexus LFA supercar, at Interselect by Lexus in Aoyama. Furthermore, at the upcoming ice skating rink at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, they will unveil "Skate Drawing," an experiential media art piece that projects the path of skaters on a screen. Meanwhile, teamLab's special exhibition "TeamLab Dance! Art Exhibition & Learn! Future Amusement Park," which began last November at the Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) in Odaiba, will feature two new works. These include "Proliferating Life - Gold," a programmatically drawn flower display in real time, and "TeamLab Camera," which connects with Facebook to take photos with original frames and various effects. Additionally, Institut Français du Japon in Iidabashi will host "Digital Shock 2015," a collection of works utilizing cutting-edge video expression and digital culture. Atsuko Baru in Shibuya will host Olivier Ratzi's photo exhibition "Tokyo Ran-kenchiku." At the IMA CONCEPT STORE in Roppongi, a photo exhibition using AR technology will be held, as well as talk sessions with participating artists and guests. Various exhibitions and collaborative sessions will also be held at six venues throughout Tokyo during the event. The exhibition period varies depending on the work, and some require an admission fee to view.
