On January 27th, Chanel presented its Spring/Summer 2015 Haute Couture collection at the Grand Palais in Paris. Karl Lagerfeld chose a gigantic greenhouse beneath the Grand Palais dome as the setting for his show. A-list celebrities, including House ambassadors Vanessa Paradis, Kristen Stewart, and Alice Dellal, gathered at the venue. Every season, Chanel's runway shows are elaborately staged. This season, inspired by the image of a "Spring Festival" and "Paradise on Earth," the collection featured a vibrant palette of springtime colors, including pink, orange, red, electric blue, yellow, and green. Models walked through a profusion of blooming flowers on the runway, wearing hazy, cloud-like tulle hats. The collection showcased the techniques only Chanel's couture atelier can achieve, including a tulle tunic lavishly embroidered with flowers, a knit dress with long, straw-like fringe swaying at the feet, a linen ensemble with a sheen of glitter, a long skirt wrapped in feathers, and a long coat lavishly decorated with large corsages at the hem and cuffs. "Showcasing the waist, rather than cleavage, is what's new," declared Karl. A variety of new looks were proposed that beautifully accentuated the waist, including dresses accentuated with belts, panniers with corset-like see-through waistbands, and tweed suits with micro-length jackets that revealed a glimpse of bare skin. Rounded shoulders, reflected in many items, including jackets, coats, tops, and dresses, are also a defining feature of this season.

To close the show, a model appeared in a mariage outfit, wearing a voluminous skirt with a train, studded with organza flowers that looked as if they were about to spill out, and a top embroidered with sparkling sequins, bringing the show to a spectacular close.
