Japan's largest coffee event will be held in Aoyama! Notable roasters from Portland will also be appearing.

Event Date:2019.10.19-10.20

The 12th TOKYO COFFEE FESTIVAL 2019 autumn, one of Japan's largest coffee events, will be held over two days, October 19th and 20th, in the courtyard of the United Nations University in Aoyama. Approximately 60 stores will set up stalls, and Portland, as a guest city, will be showcasing its coffee culture.

During the event, you can experience coffee not only from Japan but from around the world. Approximately 60 roasters and coffee shops will be gathered, along with coffee companions and other items.

For "GUEST CITY," a project that focuses on cities around the world and introduces their local coffee culture, history, and notable roasters, we have chosen Portland, USA. With a population of around 600,000, this city is by no means a megacity, but since 2008 it has recorded the highest GDP (gross domestic product) growth rate in the United States. Abundant in nature, it is known as a creative city with a liberal mindset, while supporting and protecting the local environment and community-based culture, such as "neighborhood," "DIY," and "craftsmanship." This year's event will feature coffee roasters and cafes, including Prince Coffee and Proud Mary, who will be opening in Japan for the first time, as well as craft chocolate maker Cloudforest Chocolate and restaurant Tusk. The ever-popular "tasting" event will once again feature approximately 30 roasters. Enjoy comparing coffees from different countries, producers, roasters, and brewers in original mugs, a rare opportunity to experience the unique flavors of each coffee. You can check the coffees available at each store in advance on the official website, so we recommend planning your visit. The original mini mugs were designed specifically for this event by Portland-based artist Sierra Laufer.

In addition, "CUP OF ASIA," which launched in spring 2019 and features the Asian coffee scene, will also be appearing at the venue as a special booth this time. Four stores, including one that won green beans at the last auction after hearing directly from producers, will be serving limited-time coffee. Unique stores from Yamanashi Prefecture will also be gathering at the venue as "RELATED GUEST CITY," allowing visitors to experience the local connections and unique character of the stores, reminiscent of Portland.

Limited-edition original bags and other original merchandise will also be available for purchase. For advance reservations and further information, please visit the official website (https://tokyocoffeefestival.co/).
