Shimokitazawa Curry Festival 2019, one of Japan's largest curry events, will be held for 13 days from October 10th to 22nd. 142 Shimokitazawa restaurants will be participating, offering a wide variety of original curry dishes.

This year marks the 8th time the event has been held, and with the keyword "∞" (infinite), the theme is "You can eat curry forever!", providing endless content for people to enjoy eating, playing and having fun in the streets of Shimokitazawa. The festival will feature Shimokitazawa-themed "mystery solving" and a limited-edition sale of curry bread from Angelica, a beloved local restaurant that sadly closed in 2017. It will also feature dance, live music, and theater performances at Pakupaku Park, an outdoor dining area on the former site of the Odakyu Line. The main focus of the event will be curry, with 142 restaurants in Shimokitazawa offering mini curries perfect for eating on the go, limited-edition menus, and special discounts. Enjoy unique Shimokitazawa restaurants, including vegetable-packed soup curry, photogenic spice curry, mapo curry, smoked curry, curry ramen, and curry soba, as well as curries and special menus from famous restaurants known only to those in the know. Check the website (https://curryfes.pw/archives/category/curry) for a list of participating restaurants.

The annual Shimokitazawa Curry Festival Stamp Rally (participation fee 300 yen) is a chance to collect stamps and win curry-related prizes such as instant curry, packaged rice, and fukujinzuke pickles. You can also enter a lottery to win a Curry Festival T-shirt signed by KEYTALK, Bentham, or THE LOVE HUMAN, or a CD signed by the official mascot, Curry Man.
Take a photo with S&B photo goods at the booth and post it on social media with the hashtags "#GoldenCurry" and "#ShimokitazawaCurryFestival2019" to win a free "S&B Golden Curry Retort (medium or hot)" on a first-come, first-served basis. There will also be a "Shimokitazawa Miss Curry 2019 Contest" to see who in Shimokitazawa suits curry best. Furthermore, five of the participating stores in the Curry Festival will not only be able to eat Iwashita's new ginger and Iwashita's pickled radish, but will also be featuring a unique "Pickled Radish Reversed Curry," in which the ratio of rice to pickled radish is reversed.
From 11:00 on the first day, October 10th, an opening ceremony will be held in front of Shimokitazawa Station, followed by talk sessions and talk shows on how to enjoy the Curry Festival.
In the height of autumn appetites, why not enjoy curry to your heart's content at an event that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike?
