PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO will open on the fourth floor of the new Shibuya PARCO building on November 22nd. Its opening exhibition, "AKIRA ART OF WALL Katsuhiro Otomo x Kosuke Kawamura AKIRA ART EXHIBITION," is generating a lot of buzz. Ahead of the opening, a preview was held on November 18th, and the exhibition was made public, so we report on that event.

The main focus of this exhibition is the "ART WALL," which has coexisted with the city of Shibuya as a temporary enclosure during the approximately two-year reconstruction work on Shibuya Parco.
This "ART WALL" is a reconstruction of "AKIRA," a masterpiece by Otomo Katsuhiro, a leading Japanese manga artist and film director, which anyone who has passed through the Shibuya Parco area under construction will have seen, created in collaboration with collage artist Kawamura Kosuke. The work is set in Tokyo in 2019 and has attracted attention for predicting that the Tokyo Olympics will be held in 2020.

At PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO, this temporary wall, which had been damaged over time, was re-excavated from the construction site and portions of it are on display as a giant collage artwork. In addition, visitors can see rare posters and original drawings, original collages by Kosuke Kawamura, and realistic reproductions of objects that appear in the film, all set to the soundtrack from "AKIRA" by Geinoh Yamashirogumi. The object itself has been turned into a photo spot, where visitors can sit and take photos.

The merchandise corner sells popular T-shirts (4,000 yen), hoodies (8,500 yen), long-sleeved T-shirts (6,000 yen), tote bags (1,500 yen), and more. There's also a corner recreating the "AKIRA KIOSK" filled with Katsuhiro Otomo's personal belongings.

An installation will also be held at "GALLERY X" on the first basement floor of Shibuya Parco, which has relocated from Shibuya Spain Hill. "YAR", led by graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN, will be joining the spatial design team, who will be exhibiting a giant three-dimensional work with projected light.
