KIRIKO LOUNGE, a public space on the 6th floor of Tokyu Plaza Ginza, will be hosting a special exhibition from October 11th to 27th, showcasing the principles and craftsmanship of traditional Japanese sweets from long-established Japanese confectionery shop Toraya.

The "TOKYU PLAZA GINZA x Bunkamura SPECIAL PROGRAM," held regularly in KIRIKO LOUNGE, a public space on the 6th floor of Tokyu Plaza Ginza, introduces artists and new talent who embody the slogan "Creative Japan -- The world gets interesting from here," provides a diverse range of cultural experiences to suit the tastes of the "adults" who gather in Ginza and have a keen eye for the true essence of things, and continues to disseminate new culture unique to Tokyu Plaza Ginza through genre-crossing collaborative projects and other events.
To coincide with the Ginza autumn tradition of the Ginchakai, this time we will be focusing on the Japanese sweets of Toraya, which was founded in the late Muromachi period and continues to lead Japanese culture today. Under the direction of Minami Ryusuke, we will use video and design to clearly introduce the principles of Toraya's Japanese sweets and how they are made, a long-established Japanese sweets shop that continues to evolve.

During the event, the adjacent Sukiyabashi Sabo will be offering a "Special Menu" (1,200 yen including tax) which includes two types of Japanese sweets and a drink: "Kineri Kaki," which is modeled after the persimmon that was also used as a sweet in Sen no Rikyu's tea ceremonies, and "Kuri Goyomi," made by kneading chestnuts, sugar, and agar.
