With summer in full swing, there are plenty of art events to enjoy in an open-air setting, including outdoor cinemas, cool digital art gardens, and art festivals that take over the entire city! Here's a roundup of information on outdoor art events for the summer of 2019.

Watch a movie with the night view as a backdrop at Yebisu Garden Place!
Outdoor Cinema "PICNIC CINEMA"



At Yebisu Garden Place, relax and enjoy a film screening against the night view. In addition to Wes Anderson's masterpiece, "The Grand Budapest Hotel," 15 films including "Gifted" and "The Wizard of Oz" will be screened every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from July 26th to August 25th from 7:30pm. A digital art garden appears at Tokyo Midtown?
"Living with Water: SUNTORY Digital Art Garden of Light and Fog"



A garden surrounded by a giant veranda has appeared on the lawn of Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, Tokyo, where you can "experience the coolness" of a Japanese summer. At night, the atmosphere changes completely to a fantastical one enveloped in mist, and you can enjoy colorful light displays inspired by digital art such as sand ripples and fireworks. The Aichi Triennale is Japan's largest international art festival, with its main venues in Nagoya and Toyota cities in Aichi Prefecture. Now in its fourth year, the festival will bring together over 90 artists from Japan and abroad under the theme "Taming Y/Our Passion." In addition to an international contemporary art exhibition, the festival will also feature video programs, performing arts, music programs, and more, showcasing cutting-edge art that spans a variety of forms of expression. The Setouchi Triennale 2019 is a contemporary art festival held on the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. One of the highlights is the collaboration between architect Tsuyoshi Tane and contemporary artist Chiharu Shiota, who has been participating since 2010.
