On January 24th, KENZO presented their Fall/Winter 2015-16 men's collection in a show format at the newly opened Philharmonie de Paris. Designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon recalled the ethnic-inspired collections that Kenzo Takada was known for and came across the keyword "ethnic community consciousness." From this, they interpreted the importance of respecting each individual's individuality, leading them to consider not only humans but the universe as a whole, evoking a futuristic feel for this season. While many of the pieces are highly decorative, featuring hieroglyphics and messages to the universe, as is typical of KENZO, this season's collection places a particular emphasis on functionality and protection of the body. Beautiful utility clothing includes blanket knits in beautiful colors, parachute-material blousons and coats, and loose-fitting foil-coated wool ponchos. The colorful patchwork mountain boots with rivets are also likely to be a hot topic.
