The "KAWS:HOLIDAY" project is based on the concept of a giant figure of KAWS' popular character, COMPANION, traveling around the world. Following Seoul, Taipei, and Hong Kong, "KAWS:HOLIDAY JAPAN" will be held in Japan, its fourth city, from July 18th to 24th. The venue is Fumotoppara Campground in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, at the foot of Mount Fuji.

For the fourth city, COMPANION's destination was Mount Fuji, one of Japan's most prized World Heritage Sites. At 40 meters long, the artwork, KAWS's largest to date, lies relaxed at the foot of Mount Fuji, a symbol of Japan's natural beauty. KAWS's sketch of a companion lying in front of Mount Fuji captures the view he imagines.

The event will be held at Fumotoppara Campground in Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and will offer a new camping experience that combines nature, camping, and art. KAWS created "KAWS:HOLIDAY" with the desire to shut himself off from everyday life and relax while gazing at the sky. KAWS has a deep connection to Japan and has visited the country many times. Mount Fuji remains a magnificent sight for him, and visiting it with a companion was one of his dreams. Organizer and curator SK Lam of AllRightsReserved commented, "We are extremely honored to be able to hold KAWS:HOLIDAY on Mount Fuji in Japan. This will be KAWS:HOLIDAY's first camping event, and we hope that visitors will be able to connect with each other in the majestic natural surroundings." He said he hopes that this event will attract people from all over the world and provide an opportunity for them to find a moment of peace in nature.

On July 18th, KAWS himself visited Japan for the kickoff event, "KAWS:HOLIDAY JAPAN Ceremonial Camp Day," where in addition to campers who won the lottery, many VIP guests from Japan and abroad, including ROLA, Katori Shingo, and Mizuhara Kiko, came to enjoy a special one-night-only camping experience. Fumotopara Campground will be open to the public during its regular opening hours from July 19th to 24th.
