On February 19th, Calvin Klein Collection presented its Fall/Winter 2015-16 collection at New York Fashion Week. This season, Creative Director Francisco Costa stuck to a simple silhouette, stripped down to the bare essentials. The range of pieces, from H-line and I-line dresses to trench coats and peacoats, was quite basic. At the same time, intricately crafted materials were at the heart of the collection. Various ideas, such as patchwork incorporating patent leather, embossing, needle punching, and regularly shearing, fluffing, and curling wool, created a sophisticated simplicity. This contradictory approach was also reflected in the evening wear presented in the second half of the show. A maxi-length straight dress that reached down to the ankles featured a deep slit down the front, while a mini dress featured a bold, rounded neckline. The first half of the promotion surprised viewers with its unexpected contrast.
The color palette is based on a natural and subtle gradation of colors such as ivory, beige, powdery pink, and salmon pink, with black, terracotta, aubergine, and burgundy adding depth to the feminine look. Large buttons and metallic jewels are also important accents of the collection.
