Posteregant's first show [2019-20 Fall/Winter Collection]

POSTELEGANT, created by Yuya Nakata, held its first show for Fall/Winter 2019-20, marking its fifth season.

In Fall 2018, the brand was named the winner of the Tokyo Fashion Awards at Shibuya Hikarie. And on the final night of AFWT, a new chapter in the brand's history was once again written here.

The show began with an analog-style track layered with the sounds of voices and applause. The music was composed by Shinji Wakasa of Mion Production. While POSTELEGANT began as a women's brand, women's and men's models walked down the runways on either side of the space, clearly indicating their future position as a unisex brand.

The first look featured a softly lustrous long coat paired with center-pleated pants, and the brand's signature WHOLEGARMENT knit underneath. Dressed in a blue-gray all-over outfit, the woman exuded a lightness despite it being autumn/winter.

The designer's love of materials, which has been showcased in exhibitions up to now, is the true essence of POSTELEGANT, as well as his careful approach to craftsmanship. The care and attention to detail, such as the original woven double-face material, the lightweight reversible stitching that does not require lining, and the cashmere-like fine silk, were evident on the runway. Walking models' coats and knitwear made you want to touch them.

The women's and men's models share the same items in unisex sizes, with a focus on outerwear that is eye-catching with its heavy layering.

Cutting and forms backed by solid technique, sometimes bold details born from the designer's aesthetic sense... everything is fresh and foreshadows expectations for a post-elegant future.

Postelegant has been like that since its debut, when I saw the visuals for the first season. This first show, with its timeless presence backed by a clear vision, also gives off a sense of gradual exhilaration and stability, suitable for choosing items that are not flashy but are valuable, and are necessary for the lives of those who seek the essence of things.
