Moncler unveiled their second collaboration, the "4 Moncler HYKE" collection, on January 12th.
Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Oide, creators of the cult Japanese brand HYKE, have a unique aesthetic that fuses minimalist design with extreme functionality, maintaining a sophisticated and rare look. Their clean, practical vision and the functional aspects of performance wear are an ideal match for the Moncler spirit.

In creating their second collection for Moncler Genius, HYKE further expanded on the themes of their first season. HYKE explores a 1960 down jacket worn by Lionel Terray and other Moncler archive pieces, reinterpreting them with highly technical fabrics and new techniques of craftsmanship. The result is a compact collection that infuses Moncler down with HYKE's signature refined silhouettes and quirky pragmatism, playing with layering lengths and silhouettes.

A perfect balance of sleekness and volume, streamlined shell jackets and vests, long and cropped lengths, and oversized quilted puffers define the look. The voluminous jackets are complemented by pleated dresses and narrow trousers. For functionality, the collection features pockets, taped details, and industry-leading fabrics and finishes, including GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ and micro-ripstop nylon outerwear, ThermoHeat quilting, double closures, and YKK AQUASEAL™ zippers.

A color palette dominated by black and neutral tones enhances the utilitarian feel. While HYKE's tradition of minimalist color blocking is focused on minimalist color blocking, the abstract outdoor print, with hues evocative of sand, stone, and clouds, is a first. The extremely straight lines, such as the side slits and long puller tape, are signature details for HYKE.

The clever synchronization of the men's and women's wardrobes, creating a fluid unity, also embodies the expression of metropolitan functionalism. Comprised of a sweatshirt and trousers, a long-sleeve t-shirt and a pleated dress, the city safari look is completed with a bush hat and HYKE Desertyx boots. Drawing innovation from tradition, the brand delivers an effective, continuous message.

HYKE Profile
HYKE is a Tokyo-based womenswear brand founded in 2013 by Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Oide. The collection draws inspiration from vintage silhouettes from the designers' extensive vintage collection, reimagining them while considering the items' history and how designs have evolved to suit today's lifestyles. Driven by their love of vintage workwear, uniforms, and sportswear, Yoshihara and Oide opened the vintage shop Bowels in Tokyo in 1997 and later began designing their own line of original items called Green. After taking a three-year hiatus from the collection to focus on their families, they decided to return to design. Rather than relaunching Green, they established HYKE as a new collection to better represent their new beginning and the evolution of their designs. The brand offers complete ready-to-wear offerings, including outerwear, tailored pieces, knitwear, and accessories such as hats, scarves, bags, and shoes. HYKE's collection is currently sold in over 90 stores internationally, including Harvey Nichols in the UK, Peak Store in Russia, I.T., Dover Street Market, HCH, HUG, Net-Porter, and SKP-S in China, I.T. and Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong, Adekuver, Beaker, Ecru, and Eliden in South Korea, United Arrows and Haand in Taiwan, and Barneys New York, Isetan, Ron Herman, and United Arrows in Japan. In November 2017, HYKE won the prestigious Mainichi Fashion Award.
