Exhibition by cutting-edge artists to be held at Laforet Museum Harajuku

Event Date:2019.02.23-03.11
Jan 15, 2019
Laforet Museum Harajuku will be holding an exhibition themed around the three primary colors of light, "RGB," titled "PHENOMENON: RGB," from February 23rd to March 11th.

In recent years, with the growing attention being paid to digital works in the art field, artists creating CG works have become well-known, and there has been an increase in the use of monitor displays and projections rather than canvases as a medium. In addition to the arts field, the spread of smartphones and the emergence of various devices in our daily lives has meant that people are spending longer periods of time looking at monitors and displays. This means that people are spending more time immersed in the world of light's three primary colors (RGB), and there are high hopes for an expansion of the possibilities for cutting-edge visual expression and experiences.

This exhibition focuses on the three primary colors of light, "RGB," and showcases cutting-edge artists active in the fields of fashion and culture who express ideas inspired by the media environment through striking visuals. The exhibition will feature new installations by Jonathan Zawada, a nationally acclaimed Australian artist known for his work on visuals for Grammy-winning artist FLUME and projection mapping for the Opera House, a World Heritage Site; YOSHIROTTEN, a graphic artist active in a wide range of fields, including fashion, music, advertising, and spatial design for stores, as well as works such as his solo exhibition "FUTURE NATURE" held at TOLOT heuristic SHINONOME in March 2018; and Misa Kono, a visual director who has created visuals for a wide range of musicians, from Yuzo Kayama to Wednesday Campanella. Also participating will be young artists from Japan and abroad, each with their own unique perspectives, including Asako Fujikura, Kim Laughton, MSHR, Natalia Stuyk, Yoshi Sodeoka, and Sabrina Ratté.
