On May 24th, tac:tac, a brand under A-net, will hold the first "Salon" event at its Koenji store. The inaugural event, a space for various encounters, will feature guests Kimitoshi Sato and Takumi Namba of Open Reel Ensemble. The unit performs using instruments modified from old reel-to-reel tape recorders that have disappeared from the public eye. They record voices and sounds on tape and then control the reel's rotation and movement with a computer or by hand, creating mysterious sounds. Their sound and musicality have been highly praised, leading to their participation in the "Space Balloon Project" for NTT Docomo's GALAXY S SC-02B smartphone, released last year. The event will feature a performance using an old-fashioned reel-to-reel deck and violin. Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience an actual reel-to-reel deck. Admission is free and open to the public. Welcome drinks and finger food will also be provided.
