Shibuya Scramble Square Phase I (East Tower), a new landmark directly connected to and above Shibuya Station, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019. The complex will include SHIBUYA SKY, an observation deck boasting a 360° panoramic view of Shibuya from approximately 230 meters above ground, and SHIBUYA QWS, an industrial exchange facility for the co-creation of ideas and new businesses that will lead to social value.

The new facility, located at Shibuya Station, which is being reborn through a once-in-a-century redevelopment project, will be the tallest in the Shibuya area, standing at 47 stories above ground. It will consist of an observation deck, industrial exchange facilities, commercial facilities, and offices. The observation deck "SHIBUYA SKY" will open on the 14th, 45th, and rooftop floors. It boasts one of Japan's largest rooftop spaces, the highest point in Shibuya at approximately 230 meters above ground, and its central location will offer a 360° panoramic view of Shibuya's scramble crossing, Mount Fuji, Tokyo Skytree, and more. Digital technology will also be used to create an experiential observation space that will stimulate visitors' senses. The industrial exchange facility "SHIBUYA QWS" on the 15th floor will have a community concept of "Scramble Society," where diverse people can intersect and interact, creating seeds for social value. Featuring a co-creation space consisting of four elements, including an event space that can accommodate events for up to 200 people, the facility aims to create new value and cultivate creative talent through unique programs based on questions and collaboration with the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Keio University, Waseda University, Tokyo City University, and others.

In addition, together with the "Information Dissemination and Cutting-Edge Technology Dissemination Facility" and "International Exchange Facility" in Phase II (Central Building), and the "Tourism Support Facility" in Phase II (West Building), which are scheduled for completion in 2027, the facility will serve as a central function for disseminating information from Shibuya to the world.

SHIBUYA SKY
From the second basement floor to the 14th floor, this urban commercial facility has a commercial area of approximately 32,000 m2. Befitting Shibuya, a city of change and creativity, the facility's vision is to "declare the world's latest trends" and offer exciting and inspiring seasonal experiences. The concept is "ASOVIVA." With multiple pop-up spaces that allow for a constant sense of change, the facility aims to inspire a "VIVA" feeling at all times among the fun-loving people who flock to Shibuya in search of the latest trends.

With the opening of this facility, an "Urban Core" will be constructed, a vertical space open to the city, connecting Shibuya Station, the pedestrian deck, and other areas via elevators and escalators, guiding people from the basement and decks to the ground floor. It will serve as a vertical hub for movement through Shibuya's bowl-shaped terrain, enhancing the city's mobility.

Based on the concept of "mixing, creating, and sharing with the world," the facility aims to be a new "SQUARE" facing Shibuya Scramble Crossing, a globally renowned landmark of Japan, and a stage for disseminating movement from the heart of Shibuya and giving birth to new culture.
