Louis Vuitton has been publishing its own books since 1998, and has published over 80 titles to date, including city guides and travel books. Launched in 2016, "Fashion Eye" is a series of photobooks in which fashion photographers capture the unique charms of cities, regions, and countries. It complements the collection of travel-related books produced by luxury house Louis Vuitton, and the photographs indirectly highlight fashion through the talents of photographers best known for their work in the field. Currently featuring 10 titles, the series now includes five new titles, including "Silk Road" by Kishin Shinoyama.

With its astonishing diversity of landscapes and topography, Eurasia has long attracted intrepid travelers, including Kishin Shinoyama. Silk Road offers a glimpse into the lives of its people through a selection of photographs from eight volumes published in 1981 and 1982. A foodie, he revels in market scenes lined with stalls overflowing with fresh produce. He tastes many delicacies, but he doesn't overlook the places of worship that dot the Silk Road. Faith, whether derived from Buddhism, Islam, or Christianity, remained alive thanks to the interconnectedness of civilizations along the Silk Road.

The book also aims to offer a glimpse into places now wiped from the map by the violence of war and fanaticism. Many of these photographs, which provide invaluable documentation of cultural heritage sites such as the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan, the ancient city of Palmyra, and the open-air markets of Aleppo in Syria, now serve as reminders of a bygone era.
Other titles in the collection include "Cretto di Burri" by Oliviero Toscani, "Iran" by Harley Weir, "Geneva" by Paul Rousteau, and "Bali" by Quentin de Briey. Each title features a carefully selected selection of photographs in large format, as well as a photographer's biography and an interview or critical essay. Available at Louis Vuitton stores and on the official website.
