The world of Louis Vuitton's object collection "Les Petits Nomades" shown at Kudan House

Oct 30, 2018
LOUIS VUITTON has launched a collection of objects created by some of the world's most renowned designers, "LOUIS VUITTON LES PETITS NOMADES." On October 19th, a preview was held at Kudan House, the former residence of Mankichi Yamaguchi, built in 1927 in Kudan, Tokyo, marking the first time the collection was unveiled in Japan.

In addition to the "Objet Nomade Collection" and "Les Petits Nomades Collection," which were announced in Milan in April, the venue also exhibited travel luggage, which embodies the original spirit of Louis Vuitton, as well as new home fragrances and items made from rare exotic leathers such as crocodile leather.

"Les Petits Nomades" is a collection of accessories that add color to living spaces, inheriting the worldview of the home collection "Objet Nomade," which features products created by top designers active around the world with a "travel" theme. The objects born from the fusion of the designer's unique vision, the Maison's savoir-faire and innovative craftsmanship are functional and aesthetic interpretations of Louis Vuitton's sophisticated and inspiring designs.

The Tropicalist Vase by brothers Humberto and Fernando Campana, who have been working on the Objet Nomade collection since its inception, is inspired by the South American bromeliad flower and expresses a timeless vision of vibrant sophistication. It is meticulously handcrafted using 176 metal "petals" covered in two-tone leather.

Atelier Oi has taken an original approach to exploring the properties of leather, creating five objects: "Origami Flower," a leather flower in 15 colors, individually handcrafted; "Leather Rosace Vase and Tray," inspired by the Maison's monogram motif, which creates a two-tone relief; and "Flower Field Cushion," featuring a folded leather pattern that complements "Hammock," a piece previously created by Atelier Oi for the Objet Nomade collection. The Overlay Bowl, created by Milan-based Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, is a basket expertly crafted from four pieces of smooth, hard-wearing leather. Its distinctive edges, crafted by skilled artisans in both harmonious and contrasting colors, perfectly embody the Maison's savoir-faire in leatherwork, each piece a unique "sculpture." Dutch product and interior designer Marcel Wanders created the Petit Diamond Mirror, a geometric design featuring an octagon surrounded by numerous smaller triangles. Each faceted mirror's rigid structure is encased in the Maison's signature Nomade leather, and its distinctive contrasting stitching adds a sharp aesthetic to the piece. The "Louis Vuitton Les Petits Nomades" collection will be available at the Louis Vuitton Omotesando store from early November. All items are made to order.
