Photographer Yamatani Yusuke's special exhibition "Atelier Yamatani" is currently being held at Book Obscura, a bookstore specializing in photobooks in Kichijoji, Tokyo.

The exhibition, which is being held in conjunction with the reprinting of two of Yamatani Yusuke's photobooks, "ground" (2014/lemon books) and "RAMA LAMA DING DONG" (2015/self-published), which have been out of print for a long time, will see objects from Yamatani's studio brought to Book Obscura and exhibited.

Yamatani, who was born in 1985, has left the following message regarding the exhibition:
"It's already been 11 years since I started taking photographs, and five since my first photo book, 'Tsugi no yoru e'. I'm still a bit of a baby. Perhaps the reason I've been able to continue is because I find comfort in the coldness of photography. I've decided to borrow the book obscura store and try to recreate a bit of my studio, which is actually on the second floor of my house. It will contain my old and new works, various aspects of the process of creating my works, books and accessories that I bought on a whim, scraps of photos from commercial work, and more. It's a part of the past that I've been through, but at the same time, the seeds of my future works lie there. Perhaps, surely."

The exhibition will run until November 12th. During the exhibition, there will also be talk events with various guests, including photographer Kusano Yoko.
