■ "Extraordinary Ideas—Realized" by James Turrell

Contemporary artist James Turrell is known for his installations that use light to challenge people's perceptions.

Published for the exhibition that opened on September 6, 2018 at the Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden, Germany, this book comprehensively features works from his diverse career since the 1960s. He calls his art "perceptual art," and his works allow us to experience light as an artistic medium through our senses and intellect.

Also included is Sloane Red, his early work in which geometric light objects are displayed floating in space. Also included is a 2016 work from his important series "Wedgeworks," which shows how the artist uses light to create illusionistic spatial situations.

His "Ganzfeld" experience, featured at the Venice Biennale in 2011, allowed viewers to experience the way all imaginable spatial contours dissolve into light and color. His famous long-term project, "Roden Crater," an extinct volcano in the Arizona desert that has been transformed into an observation deck since the 1970s, is presented alongside works created specifically for the exhibition.
