Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons held his show at Espace Lefèvre, near the border between Paris and its suburbs. While there was no specific theme, the collection projected an image of "romanticism within rock."
Particularly noteworthy were the denim pieces. All were original, crafted from scratch, with no vintage materials used. The dresses and coats, composed of countless components, underwent an extremely complex process. Lace and checked fabrics were attached to the underside of the denim, leaving only the weft threads exposed, and then machine-stitched to secure the pieces. The pieces were then washed to create a raw-edge texture, and the resulting pieces were sewn together.
Denim pieces featuring jacquard motifs were also featured. Each was coordinated with a T-shirt, creating asymmetrical looks by combining pieces resembling dresses, camisoles, and bustiers.
The combination of rock details such as printed T-shirts reminiscent of band T-shirts, punkish barbed wire print T-shirts, and spiky chain necklaces, with couture-like long silhouette dresses, truly embodied the "romanticism within rock."
