The Rose Céleste is a poetic addition to the story of the Rose des Vents collection. Victoire de Castellane was inspired by Christian Dior's superstition, particularly his devotion to tarot and astrology.
In 1946, Christian Dior discovered a metal star on the street and, believing it to be a symbol of good luck, decided to found the House of Dior. He continued to value the lucky star as a force for decision-making when faced with doubt. Creative Director Victoire de Castellane has reinterpreted it as a medallion featuring two iconic celestial bodies: the moon and the sun. On the front, the moon, surrounded by stars, appears against an onyx background. On the back, nine rays of varying sizes in yellow gold shine brilliantly against a mother-of-pearl background. The smiling mouth and eyes of the moon are meticulously carved by artisans, and the stone is polished to create a smooth surface and surrounded by rice-grain gold.
A new long necklace designed with a smiling sun and a gentle moon will be added in November 2022. The motif, which has a maximum diameter of 25 mm, shows a different expression as it rotates around the chest. The asymmetrical earrings, featuring a moon and sun design on each side, are also beautiful when viewed from the back.
The new Rose Celeste jewelry will be available at Dior Fine Jewelry boutiques nationwide from November 1st.
