The exhibition, organized by the Vitra Design Museum and the Alvar Aalto Museum, began in September 2014 at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany, and has since traveled to Barcelona, Spain; Madrid, Spain; Aalborg, Denmark; Helsinki, Finland; and Paris, France. This is the first major Aalto retrospective in Japan in nearly 20 years. It features original drawings, furniture, lighting fixtures, glassware, and architectural models, tracing the life and work of Alvar Aalto, a leading 20th-century architect and co-founder of Artek, also known as the "Sage of Scandinavia."

In addition to exhibits tracing Aalto's creative path, the exhibition will also feature a special "Aalto Room" where visitors can experience Aalto's designs for themselves. With the cooperation of Artek, the main partner of the exhibition, and Iittala, the main sponsor of the Japan touring exhibition, this area will feature a selection of Alvar Aalto's signature stools, tables, and armchairs, allowing visitors to try them out for themselves. Furthermore, interior stylist Mitsuko Kuroda will be in charge of the exhibition layout and styling. By combining Aalto vases and trays with natural light streaming in from the windows overlooking the ocean, visitors can find inspiration for incorporating Aalto's designs into modern living and experience his passion for enriching and beautiful everyday life.

During the event, the "Aalto Room" will be hosting an "Instagram Photo Contest: Photo with Alvar Aalto," where visitors can sit next to a panel of Alvar Aalto working at an Artek table and take a commemorative photo. Take a photo of your favorite furniture or outfit and post it on Instagram with the hashtag "#alvaraaltosecondnature" for a chance to win a prize after the event ends. In addition, the workshop space within the "Aalto Room" will host a "Create Your Own Aalto Room" event. Participants will style postcards with stickers featuring the "Stool 60," "Paimio Armchair 41," and Aalto vases. Postcards are available to take home, and participation is open to all ages. Except for November 3rd, during the exhibition period, the event will begin at 9:30 AM and end when supplies run out.

"Alvar Aalto - Another Nature" will tour the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Art, Hayama, followed by the Nagoya City Art Museum from December 8th to February 3rd, 2019, the Tokyo Station Gallery from February 16th to April 14th, 2019, and the Aomori Museum of Art from April 27th to June 23rd, 2019. Experience Aalto's vision of making life more convenient and enriching for all through the power of design, rather than luxury for the few.
