Glass artist Tsuji Kazumi's exhibition "between visible and invisible" is running simultaneously at call in Spiral, Aoyama, and the minä perhonen Daikanyama store until July 29th.


Tsuji Kazumi explores and expresses the "space between the visible and the invisible." At call, a shop for comfortable living proposed by minä perhonen, elegant works such as the milky white "opaque" series are on display, while at the minä perhonen Daikanyama store, glass from the transparent "color" series is on display.

Below is a comment from artist Tsuji Kazumi.


"Perhaps the title I came up with for this exhibition could be translated as 'Between the Visible and the Invisible'?

When you work with a material for many years, you inevitably learn about and come to terms with the various properties of that material.

Yes, perhaps the greatest feature of my partner, glass, is that it possesses two opposing properties. Hot and cold, soft and hard, colorless and colored, and transparent and opaque. I'm always at the mercy of these ranges...

I am particularly interested in the concept of "transparency and opacity through color." The vast range between "transparency" and "opacity"—the possibilities of "seemingly visible but not visible," or "visible only if you squint"—are endless, and each time I create something new, I encounter something new. Like human emotions, the ambiguity that cannot be put into words is part of its allure. Ultimately, it's not what's visible, what's spoken, or what's written; what's not clearly visible, what couldn't be articulated well, and important things often lurk between the lines of written text.

This time, based on colors that match the new Minä Perhonen Fall/Winter 2018-19 collection, I hope you'll come and gaze intently at the infinite gap between visible and invisible.
