Van Cleef & Arpels first introduced its "Alhambra Collection," a symbol of good fortune, in 1968. Inspired by the four-leaf clover, the motif has come to symbolize the Maison's timeless style and unparalleled savoir-faire, and continues to be beloved for generations to come. Fifty years after the creation of the first "Alhambra Long Necklace," this iconic piece celebrates this historic collection with a new creation that highlights the fluidity and grace of the Alhambra.

Vintage Alhambra 20 Motif Long Necklace
Estelle Arpels' nephew, Jacques Arpels, was fond of saying, "If you want to be lucky, believe in luck." Luck is a theme that remains dear to the Maison, guiding the Maison and creating various iconic collections. In the 1920s, the four-leaf clover appeared in the brand's annals, alongside wooden amulets, lucky charms, and graceful fairies. A natural collector, Jacques Arpels found one in the garden of his home in Germiny-Lévêque, plucked it, and presented it to a colleague along with the American poem "Don't Quit," a message of never giving up hope. In 1968, the Maison created the first Alhambra long necklace, inspired by the shape of the four-leaf clover. The beautifully harmonious lucky motif was composed of 20 motifs in crinkled gold, edging with gold beads. The motif became so popular that it became the signature of Van Cleef & Arpels and established its reputation worldwide as a symbol of good fortune.

The Vintage Alhambra long necklace and bracelet, as well as the Magic Alhambra earrings, feature the rich nuances of grey mother-of-pearl and the sparkle of diamonds, encased in pink gold, creating a soft variation in colour.
Meanwhile, another Vintage Alhambra long necklace and bracelet, also featuring beautiful alternating motifs, features the brilliance of diamonds and white gold, contrasting with the deep black of onyx.
True to the original Alhambra collection, all motifs are adorned with delicate beaded borders, a hallmark of Van Cleef & Arpels savoir-faire. A single bead is placed at the center of each motif, adding a soft touch to the overall piece.
